Changing Icons In 6670/7610/6630 etc.

Yes you read it correctly, 6670/7610/6630 etc. can change icons just like 6600. Although it's abit complicated, its possible.

Heres how:

Step 1:

Go to themes and choose the theme of which the icons you want to use, press options > edit and change one of the setttings, for example, the colour palette.

Step 2

Using a program like fexplorer, go to c:\system\skins\theme_used_in_step1 and take the ini file

Step 3

Put it into c:\system\skins\the_theme_which_you_wana_use.

Step 4

If there is any ini file inside, delete it, then rename the ini file to the name of the folder

Step 5

You are done, exit the fexplorer and apply your theme

Better Than Backup (s60)

If you have a problem and thinking of backing up your phone memory before formatting then it's of no use, as if after formatting you restore the backup and the corrupted files before formatting will come back again.

So here is a better way

1. Backup Contacts - Go in c:\system\data\contacts.cdb and save that file in your MMC or PC. Alternatively you can use the Backup Contacts program, download from the link below.

2. Bookmarks - Go in c:\system\data\bookmark.db and save that file..

3. Notepad - Go in c:\system\data\notepad.db and save that file somewhere....

4. Messages - If u have them on ur phone memory then just save the whole of mail folder

After formatting paste the backups at the same place as before.

Backup Phone Settings

If you ever come to a point when you need to hard format your phone or maybe upgrade to a new firmware, you would like to save the current settings of your phone. So this is what you should do;

How to backup phone settings to MMC.

Menu > Extras > Memory > Options > Backup phone mem.

Once the formatting or upgrading is done, you can then restore back the settings by doing;

Restoring settings after phone format.

Menu > Extras > Memory > Options > Restore from card.

Out of memory problem? (S60)

Out of memory problem? When opening a big app? Close the phone. Then turn on in safe mode. (holding the abc buton)(or pencil buton) untill you see the networks logo

You can free up memory with DevMan application also. Download it from the link below:

DevMan

Upgrade phone firmware

Firmware can be upgrade by visiting a Nokia Service Center in person (although prior arrangement is advisable).

However the recommended procedure is contacting your local Nokia Service Center / Dealer / Shop by phone.

They should be able to advise you to which course of action you should take.

The procedure varies from country to country, but usually the phone is sent away by post, upgraded and then

returned. The time taken also varies from country to country - there are reports of several weeks wait in some

European countries while in the UK a period of 2-4 working days is the norm.

You can find out contact details for your local center by visiting your country's Nokia website. There is a drop

down menu on the font page of the main Nokia site listing these (http://www.nokia.com).

Format S60 Phones

You can quick format your phone and you can full format. To quick format

goto tools/settings/general/resoreFactorySettings. To full format go on

standby screen and put in this code: *#7370# this will leave you with

nothing on your phone except nokia software. I will advise you keep your

phone on charge while doing this in case of not finishing its re-format.

A Soft-reset - the process of resetting all the settings of the phone to the factory default!

No applications are deleted! A Hard-reset is like formatting a drive! It does format the memory.

Everything that has been installed after the first use of the phone is deleted!

It will recover the

memory of the phone to the state you purchased it!

Copy&Paste (s60)

You can copy/paste your text - Select the text by pressing a button

showing pencil. Hold the key and drag with the arrow. Again hold the same

key. Option copy/paste will appear. Select copy. It will get selected and

stored in tens memory. Then paste it anywhere you want. Hold the same

key. Option paste will appear. Then paste the selected text.

Shortcut to Select Multiple Items in List Box

You know the list box in many S60 applications, such as Contacts, Messaging, Notes, Gallery and many more. How do you usually select multiple items? The common way to do that is by selecting Options > Mark/unmark > Mark menu. If you want to select 10 items, you have to do it 10 times but there is a faster way!

Here is the trick:

Firstly, highlight the first item you want to select.

Press Edit key (pencil-abc key) on your phone. While still pressing Edit key, press Down key to select the next item. Now you have two items selected. If you press Down key again (while still pressing Edit key), the next item will be selected. It is faster than selecting Options menu, isn't it?

You can also press Up key to select one or more previous items.

That's how we select contiguous items. How can we select random items?

Firstly, highlight the first item.

Then go to the next other item.

Press Edit key and OK key at the same time. If you don't know what OK key is, it is the center key of your joystick. Now you have two items selected.

You can go to the next other item and once again press Edit key and OK key at the same time. Now you have three items selected.
